To all members of the British Society for the History of Medicine
29th December this year marks the centenary of the death of Sir William Osler and the Osler Club of London is keen to mark this significant anniversary with a special event. Clearly a few days after Christmas is not the perfect time for such a commemoration, so we have made arrangements for a centenary event on Sunday 26th January 2020 at Christ Church, Oxford, where Osler’s funeral took place on 1st January 1920. We hope that you and any guests would like to join us on this occasion.
Full details are available in the attached flyer. The lectures will commence at 3.00pm, but there will be an opportunity for a tour of Christ Church Cathedral and the Dining Hall from 2.15pm, for which you will need to arrive by 2.00pm. We need precise numbers for these tours, so please indicate on the reply slip below if you would like to take up this opportunity.
The only charge for the event will be for tea and we are asking for a donation of at least £5 per person on the day.
As you see, the afternoon will close with a commemorative Evensong in the Cathedral. We are very grateful to the Sub Dean, The Revd Canon Dr Edmund Newey, for his assistance in planning and organising the whole event.
Numbers are limited for this commemoration, so if you are planning to attend, it is essential that you respond to me using the reply format below.
I look forward to hearing from you
